GODFREY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office credits a Facebook follower for providing information that led to the arrest of a woman who allegedly threw liquor bottles at employees outside a Godfrey Schnucks.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, store employees approached the suspect in the parking lot after she allegedly stole four bottles of liquor. The woman then reportedly began arguing with the employees and threw two full bottles at them before dropping the other two bottles on the lot.

Less than a week after the department posted a surveillance photo of the suspect, a Facebook follower called them with the suspect’s identity.

Monday morning, police said Carlette Whitfield, 39, of Alton, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft second subsequent offense. Her bond was set at $30,000.
