ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A resolution thanking St. Louis Police officers has been voted down.

An aldermanic committee heard the resolution Tuesday. It was introduced by Alderman Joe Vaccaro to praise police officers' response to protests over the Jason Stockley not-guilty verdict.

The proposed resolution also came just after a controversial resolution passed to remember Anthony Lamar Smith, the man who was fatally shot by former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley.

Alderman John Collins-Muhammad, who sponsored the resolution to remember Smith, said Vaccaro's motion was ignorant.

"When you file a counter to a resolution to honor a young man who lost his life... that's the issue that I have," Collins-Muhammad said.

Both the revised version and the original resolution introduced by Vaccaro were voted down. It will not move forward to the Board of Aldermen.
