CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A Belleville couple is facing charges after a search of their hotel room in Caseyville found assault rifles, handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, police say.

Shawn Holland is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm with the requisite FOID card and unlawful possession of ammunition with the requisite firearm owner’s ID card. Cara Anderson is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

October 11, the St. Clair County Sheriff Department’s Drug Tactical Unit searched the couple’s room at the Old Country Inn in Caseyville. Police say they recovered several assault rifles and multiple handguns.

The couple made the fully-functional guns with parts they purchased. Owning the guns is not illegal, but any attempt to sell them would be.

Authorities said they also found 38 fully loaded 30-round .223 magazines, thousands of loose rifle ammunition and a bulletproof vest.
