St. Peters woman among 2 killed, dozen shot during violent St. Louis weekend

Authorities are investigating two homicides and multiple shootings over a violent weekend in the St. Louis area. 

The first incident was Saturday around 2:15 a.m., a woman was shot in the 6000 block of N. Broadway. Detectives say she was conscious and breathing before heading to a local hospital and is listed in critical, but stable condition.

About thirty minutes later, police say a victim was shot at near S. Grand Blvd and Gravois Ave. Authorities have not released information about a possible suspect in the shooting.

Hours later, a woman was shot in the leg and raped by an unknown man in the 4300 block of Rosalind around 4:50 a.m.

The woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

At the same time, a male Bi-State bus driver was then shot near N. Broadway and Taylor. Sources from Bi-State said the victim was getting ready to begin a route and while standing outside of his bus, a man approached and shot him during a robbery attempt. 

The victim's injuries are not life threatening. 

Real Time Crime is looking into the possibility that the suspect who shot the bus driver could be connected to two other incidents that occurred early Saturday morning, including the shooting in the 6000 block of North Broadway.

The second incident occurred at a Loves on North Broadway where the suspect approached a man and woman with a gun in an attempted robbery. The victims fled in their car and were not hurt during the incident. 

Sunday, a call came out just after midnight about a woman shot in the right leg at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Clara Avenue.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. A second victim sustained minor cuts from shards of glass in the incident as well.

The second shooting was in the 7500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 2:08 a.m., where a victim, mid-teens, was shot in the calf during an attempted robbery. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Around 4:15 a.m., a victim was shot in the calf in the 5800 block of Kennerly Avenue. The victim was conscious and breathing at the scene.

The 4th shooting occurred around 5:45 a.m. in the 5400 block of Gilmore Avenue. A man was shot in the hand and wrist. He was conscious and breathing at the scene.

Later in the day around 3 p.m., police were called to 4400 block of St. Ferdinand Avenue where a woman was shot in the face. She was conscious and breathing at the scene.

Around 4:18 p.m., a man was shot in the leg in the 4800 block of Carter Avenue, and an hour later at 5:03 p.m., another man was shot in the leg in 5900 block of Stratford Avenue. 

Around 9:20 p.m., police were called to the 2500 block of North Grand, at the Grand Motel, where a woman was shot in the chest. The victim, identified later as Lovecia Jones, 31, of St. Peters, was transported to an area hospital but died shortly after arrival. 

Police in the Metro East are also investigating a shooting that occurred in Alorton Sunday afternoon. Details are limited but investigators were seen putting up yellow tape outside of Pop's liquor store in the 4600 block of Bond Avenue. 

Just after 1 a.m. Monday, a man was found shot in the stomach in Minnesota Avenue. The victim had been shot somewhere else and dropped there, and was taken to the hospital conscious and breathing. He was reported dead a short time later. Police later identified the victim as a high school football coach at De Smet.
