MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Maplewood man’s emotional support dog disappeared on October 4 and he fears she was stolen.

“I would hope someone will have a change of heart and let her come back, she’s needed to quite a bit, it’s a big loss,” said Jamie Stitt.

His 12-year-old dog Maddie is more than a companion, she warns him when he’s about to have a seizure.

“You don’t want to be by yourself having a seizure,” said Stitt.

The dog named Maddie was on the front porch with Stitt’s caretaker and ex-wife Karen Newman.

“She just poofed in a cloud of dust because she doesn’t do that,” said Newman.

Newman said she was on the porch with Maddie when her phone rang. She grabbed her phone and when she came back Maddie was gone, which she stresses is very unusual.

Maddie is engraved on both sides with a big red heart and she is microchipped. Since she hasn’t been returned, that’s why they fear she was stolen.

Now they’re begging she come home since Stitt’s seizures are happening more often.

They’ve started a fundraising page in the hopes of creating a reward to get Maddie back.

Newman begs anyone who may have her to return her, no questions asked. You could also drop Maddie off at the Humane Society or a vet so she can be returned home to help Stitt.
