BELLEVILLE, Il. (KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating after a Belleville woman discovered racist graffiti on her front door.

Rickyale Pointer went to the police Monday afternoon to report the vandalism, which included the n-word and "KKK" scrawled on the entryway to her home.

"It's got to be prejudice because nobody that's not prejudiced would come and write that on your door," she said.

Pointer said the issue likely started over a week ago when local children, including her son,  started fighting at nearby basketball court -

"They jumped on him and other parents said he was crying," she said.

Since then tensions seemed to have simmered, eventually growing to the point where the words were left on Pointer's front door -

"We don’t even feel safe. I don't know if we the target for somebody, if somebody wanted to come and do something to my house or my car. I haven't even been at home since this happened."

News 4 reached out to police for details, but the detective on the case said he cannot comment on the investigation.
