ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

NBA star and St. Louis native Jayson Tatum returned to his hometown on Saturday to congratulate kids at the “Boys and Girls Club” on North Grand Avenue for helping victims of the recent hurricanes.

It was all smiles when Tatum signed autographs and snapped photos with young fans.

“That’s why it’s so special, because I was in this building about 10 years ago playing,” Tatum said.

Last month, Tatum challenged the children to help gather donations for Boys and Girls Clubs in Texas and Florida following hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Now, he’s teaching them that hard work pays off.

Case after case of water, canned food and more will soon be send out to help hurricane victims.

The supplies are a compilation of donations from all ten Greater St. Louis Boys and Girls Clubs and community partners.

“You know, just for them to come together and have an impact on somebody else that they’ll probably never know can go a long way,” Tatum said.

The “Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis” is still collecting donations for hurricane victims.
