2 plead guilty in federal court in '12 drug-related murder

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two men involved in a drug-related murder in 2012 pled guilty in federal court.

Jessie Hampton, 26, and Malcom Johnson, 26, both of St. Louis, pled guilty to one felony count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in murder, according to the United States Attorney's office.

Johnson pled guilty on Aug. 11 and Hampton pled guilty on Thursday.

According to court documents, both men were involved in drug trafficking, and in July of 2012 robbed Scipio Vaughn.  During the robbery, Vaughn was shot and killed.

Sentencing for the men will take place on Nov. 8, 2017.  The crime in which they will be sentenced for carries a penalty of life in prison which may or may not include fines up to $250,000.
