HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Two suspects are on the run after they allegedly stole an SUV and crashed into a nearby home in Hazelwood overnight.

At 11:45 p.m. Monday a homeowner heard his car being stolen out of his driveway and he told News 4 he got into a second car and started chasing them.

Hazelwood police said the suspects eventually crashed the SUV into a home near Coachman and Haventree Lane.

After hitting the house, the suspects fled on foot and got away.

The neighbor who lives next door to the home that was hit on Coachman said crashing into his yard is a common problem.

"It's crazy," said Vito Losciuto, "it's like at least once a year and people don’t make the turn," he said.

The man whose house was hit by the stolen vehicle told News 4 he was dozing off on the couch when he was awoken by a loud noise and went out to see what happened.

The building inspector at the scene said no one can stay in the house the SUV crashed into until the damage to the foundation is repaired.

The owner of the stolen car said he didn't get a good look at the suspects, but told News 4 two cellphones were found in his car. He's hopeful that will help police find them. His car that was stolen is totaled.

Police are looking for the two suspects. Officers said they did recover evidence at the scene, but couldn't specify what that was since the case is under investigation.
