In St. Louis and beyond, it is a reality for many that they don't know when their next meal will be.

This weekend, Meals for a Million is hoping to do their part to provide food for the hungry.

On Aug. 26 and 27 at the St. Charles Family Arena, a co-operative food-packaging event is taking place to produce and distribute 1 million dried non-perishable meals to starving people in the St. Louis area and international countries.

According to Meals for a Million, more than 5,000 90-minute slots are filled with volunteers who will work an assembly line to create packaged, nutritious meals. Each sealed pouch will provide a complete meal for six children, or four adults.

The event will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
