ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

For the first time in St. Louis major league baseball history, a transgender individual will throw out the first pitch.

The St. Louis Cardinals will host Pride Night this Friday night against the Tampa Bay Rays. To start the game off, Queen of Pride Tassandra Crush will throw out the first pitch of the game.

Matt Harper, the President of the Board of Pride St. Louis, said the group is thrilled to have the opportunity to join "this historic moment for our LGBTQIA+ community."

As a part of the Pride Night festivities, fans will receive a special themed ticket and a Cardinals cap with the STL logo in rainbow colors.

A portion of the ticket sales will go towards the Pride STL Scholarship, an annual award earned by St. Louis-area students.
