ARNOLD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -
Arnold police are hoping surveillance video will help identify a serial gas thief and land him in jail.
Police said he hit the Zinger's Mart convenience store in the 1500 block of Jeffco Boulevard for the third time on Monday night.
Store manager Jessica Toscano told News 4, "I'm pretty mad about him. I'd appreciate if he'd come in and pay for his gas. It's aggravating."
Toscano said the thief pumped $41 worth of gas on August 6 and drove off without paying, then left without paying for $36.22 worth of gas on August 8 and $40 in gas on August 14. And she said it's been difficult to identify him.
"He's switching the license plates. The first two times he had the same license plate but last night he had a different license plate," said Toscano.
In the surveillance video, the thief appears to be a white man in his early 30s, who has a slim build and appears to be around 6'-6'3". In each theft, he's wearing a hat.
And his older model burgundy Ford Explorer has some distinctive features. The driver's side door is stuck and the suspect always gets in and out of the vehicle on the passenger side. The SUV has damage to the front bumper and is missing a rear window.
According to Lt. James Jones of the Arnold Police Department, detectives have a pretty good idea who the suspect is but aren't 100 percent sure. Officers and workers at Zinger's Mart are hoping someone will be able to identify the thief from the surveillance pictures and will call the Arnold Police Department.
"Oh there's somebody, there's got to be somebody, I'm praying," Toscano said.
