FESTUS (KMOV) -

The City of Festus is making final preparations for the large crowds of visitors expected for the August 21 total eclipse which will have a duration of 2:36 in Festus.

Barb Lowry, with the city, told News 4, "It's going to be a great weekend and a fun day. It's something that hasn't happened before and it won't happen again so we're going to make the most of it."

The activities at West City Park will begin Friday and run through Monday. The city is planning lots of live music, demonstrations, a petting zoo, scavenger hunt and food vendors.

Main and Mill Brewery is selling eclipse glasses and a special beer that was brewed just for the eclipse, called 'Trail of Totality.'

"Instead of doing a black beer, we decided to do a tart wheat beer on black fruit, so we did black raspberries and blackberries. So it gives it a super, super deep red color but also tart," said Denny Foster.

Burch Sports and Novelties is selling a wide variety of eclipse t-shirts to help eclipse gazers remember the big event, long after it's over.

"I've seen some of the others out there, I kinda like ours. I like the one that has orange on it, it pops," said Mike Burch.
