2 safe after canoe overturns in Missouri River

WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Two people are safe Thursday morning after their canoe overturned in the Missouri River.

The two were part of the Missouri American Water MR340, which started in Kansas City on Aug. 8 and ends in St. Charles, when their canoe overturned in Washington, Missouri, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

One of the canoeists was able to swim to shore. The other held onto the canoe and was rescued by Warren County EMS officials. Neither suffered any serious injuries.
