Those outside the path of totality will have the opportunity to travel to Carbondale, Illinois to see it live in-person.

Amtrak is offering the opportunity to travel to Carbondale, Illinois the same day as the eclipse, and enjoy the day-long festivities before, during, and after the historic event.

The transportation company announced on Sunday they are offering same-day, round-trip tickets from Chicago and Champaign, Illinois. Amtrak said their offer defeats the need for car travel and lodging to Carbondale, which is in the eclipse's path of totality.

On Aug. 21, riders will depart from Chicago or Champaign at 3:00 a.m. and 5:05 a.m., respectively. Tickets for the trip are $153 per-adult riders from Chicago, and $90 per-adult riders in Champaign. Included in the trip will be a pair of viewing glasses.

For information on the trip and to purchase tickets, head to Amtrak's website.
