ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A man believed to be the culprit of multiple car break-ins and car thefts spanning several months in the Metro East has been charged.

The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office issued three felony burglary charges to Charles H. Joshway Jr., 47, of East St. Louis on Thursday.

According to authorities, there have been several reports of vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles in the Signal Hill area in the past few months.  Over the weekend of July 30, several vehicle burglaries and three stolen cars were reported in the Villa Hills area.

On Tuesday morning, more vehicle burglaries were reported by residents of Villa Hills. One resident confronted a suspect in his driveway who police say fled.

Later on that same afternoon, reports continued to come in regarding the same suspect allegedly entering another vehicle nearby.

Deputies of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department eventually located the suspect at Illinois Route 163 and Eiler Road.  The suspect was then taken into custody.

Joshway Jr. is currently in police custody being held on a $100,000 bond.
