The Blues announced Thursday they have made a minor roster addition to solidify defensemen depth in the organization.
St. Louis has signed veteran defenseman Nate Prosser two a two-year, two-way contract. The 31-year-old spent last season with the Wild, playing in 39 games. Prosser claims seven goals and 31 assists across parts of eight seasons, all with Minnesota.
The two-way contract allows the Blues to potentially store Prosser in the AHL if they prefer. However, with Carl Gunnarsson and Robert Bortuzzo likely to hold down the third line defense, Prosser figures to be the club’s seventh defenseman, and could spend some time in press boxes as a healthy scratch.
Prosser’s most productive offensive season came in 2011-2012 when he notched one goal with 11 assists. With Mike Yeo as head coach, Prosser played a career-high 63 games for the Wild in 2014-2015.
