CAHOKIA (KMOV.com) -

Metro East Congressman Mike Bost was confronted for his views on healthcare during a public appearance in Cahokia.

"I am a citizen who you voted to take away the health insurance of my wife," said Chris Baker. "You voted to kill my wife."

Baker said he was there as a resident of Waterloo and worried about his wife who has a chronic health condition.

Bost in an email to News 4, called Baker a "political activist."

During the exchange, Bost also defended his choice not to hold in-person town halls on the healthcare issue, but rather he prefers to talk with people one-on- one.

"I need to hear from those who disagree with me," Bost wrote in his email.

In 2009, several town hall meetings in the St. Louis area on Obamacare were held and disrupted by protesters.
