Police ID man killed in Wednesday morning shooting

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police have identified the man who was killed during an early morning double shooting in North City Wednesday. 

Two people were shot while in their car in the 4200 block of Dr. Martin Luther King just after 1 a.m. Following the shooting, the victims drove the car a short distance to a gas station at Dr. Martin Luther King and Vandeventer.

When police arrived, they pronounced 40-year-old Preston Stepney, of the 9400 block of Burdella, dead. He was seated in the passenger seat.

The 42-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and legs. He was listed in serious, stable condition.

No other details have been released.
