ARNOLD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Firefighters battled a fire inside the Metal Container Corporation facility in Arnold Tuesday night.

A canning furnace on the top floor of the building in the in 42 Tenbrook Industrial Court caught fire after 8 p.m. The plant manager got all the workers out safely.

“We have had structure fires here in the past, quickly put out but they haven’t gone to this magnitude of five alarms,” said Ron Harder with the Rock Community Fire District. “But, the employees did a good job here of evacuation, everybody got out quickly, safely, no injuries, no panic.”

Firefighters called the fire “labor-intensive” because they had to cut through the dry wall and search for the fire.

“The fire got behind a lot of these walls,” Harder said. “Firefighters had to breach walls and open up dry wall and try to search for this fire.”

The Metal Container Corporation makes cans for Anheuser Busch and other companies.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital due to heat exhaustion.
