CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police supporters led by the widow of St. Louis County Police Officer Blake Snyder urged Chesterfield's mayor to reconsider his suggestion that Prop P money go towards other uses besides the police department.

Last week, Mayor Bob Nation told News 4 his officers are already well paid and the department well funded. He added that language in the proposition doesn't force cities to use the money for police.

"It's been upsetting, it's hurtful," Elizabeth Snyder said outside Chesterfield City Hall.

Prop P was approved by voters in April after an intense campaign that the hike in sales tax would go to St. Louis County and municipal police departments

On Monday, Mayor Bob Nation said he was done talking about the issue, saying he had been misquoted in the media.

A final decision on how to spend the money will be made by the Chesterfield City Council later this year.
