ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

New and expecting military moms and wives were in for a special treat on Sunday.

The American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri threw them a “Women Warriors” baby shower at Jefferson Barracks.

The women were given an array of gifts, including car seats, strollers and diapers from donors.

One military wife whose husband is currently serving overseas said she’s thankful for the support.

“It’s so nice knowing that there’s people out there in the community who really want to help you, when they don’t even know you or your circumstances,” said Megan Eschbach.

“It’s just a small way for us to say thank you for serving our country and for the sacrifice that you and your family have made for us,” said Cindy Erickson, CEO of American Red Cross.

The Red Cross partnered with Veterans Affairs to select the new and expecting moms.
