KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A man has died in an officer-involved shooting after he pointed his gun at officers on Friday morning.

At about 8:45 a.m., officers received a call that said there was a domestic violence disturbance happening in the 4300 block of Chestnut Avenue where someone was armed with a gun.

While officers were headed to the scene, the call was updated to say that shots had been fired.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a man who matched the suspect description and was armed with a gun.

Officers tried to negotiate with the suspect and get him to drop the gun.

After about 20 minutes of negotiation, the suspect then pointed his gun at officers.

The officers shot him and then immediately rendered first aid.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
