HIGHLAND, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Two crashes involving semi-trucks shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Highland Friday.

One crash occurred near mile marker 32 around 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Illinois State Police Department. Following the crash, a car was on its roof and a semi-truck was seen with its cab off the road. There was also another vehicle with front-end damage and a car in the grass nearby.

The second crash occurred near mile marker 31.5. In that crash, the contents of a semi-truck were seen in the grass after the trailer appeared to have broken open.

According to officials, several people were injured in the two crashes. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. 

The interstate reopened just before 1 p.m.

No other details have been released.
