ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A suspect allegedly involved in a fight and shooting was arrested and charged second-degree murder on Tuesday.
Police say 21-year-old Laquawn Reece was charged in connection with a fight that turned deadly in the St. Louis Place neighborhood on July 26.
The 36-year-old victim told police he fatally shot 26-year-old Eric Hogan after the suspect and two others showed up at his house in the 1800 block of Warren around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Hogan and the victim were previously involved in an argument, police said.
When Hogan and the other suspects arrived at the house, a fight began, during which a Reece fired shots at the victim. Fearing for his safety, the victim fired back, killing Hogan, according to police.
When police arrived on the scene, the victim reportedly had cuts to his face and hands.
Reece is being charged with second-degree murder, assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He is being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond.
