ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

There’s a new game taking over local communities that both kids and adults are taking part in.

The game is like a more artistic Pokémon Go, except instead of chasing a virtual monster players are seeking out cutely painted rocks.

Amy Brockmeyer came up with the idea as a way to share a smile with her St. Charles neighbors.

“We like to spread joy in the community,” she said.

As an artist, Brockmeyer started painting rocks and her daughter Annabelle joined in.

They hide them around town for other children to find.

"They can take it home and love it and cherish it,” she said. “They don’t have to re-hide it, if they want to they can and let them create their own creations and let them see the joy they can bring to others.”

Brockmeyer started the Facebook page “Rock My Way” to spread the idea and it has grown like a wildfire. Their page has almost 2,000 followers and new pages popping up in North County and St. Louis are growing as well.

Anyone can join in, with just a few guidelines including leaving them outside and on public property, other than that the rock’s the limit.

“It can be a six-year-old’s pretty little scribble or an artist that’s been painting for years whatever you want to put on there to brighten someone’s day,” Brockmeyer said.
