FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

First Bank and Samaritan’s Feet partnered together to donate 1,000 pairs of brand new shoes for local children and adults in need.

Bank employees and local leaders met at McCluer high school to wash the recipients’ feet before putting the new shoes on.

Volunteers also shared words of encouragement, in hopes that those words would stay with them long after the shoes are worn out.

“Surveys show that the top 5 things that kids need to be successful in school are socks and shoes,” said Executive Director of Samaritan’s Feet, Terry Tolbert.

Prior to the event, Ferguson Mayor James Knowles made a proclamation declaring today “Love Ferguson Day”.
