WOODSON TERRACE (KMOV.com) -

A Los Angeles, California man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a chase that ended in a crash in north St. Louis County last week.

Shawn Michael Watters, 47, crashed and caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage in the 9330 block of Tutwiler Avenue on July 13 around 6 p.m., according to court records. After crashing, the suspect allegedly drove from the scene without leaving his information.

A short time later, Watters reportedly crashed his vehicle into one being driven by a Woodson Terrace Police officer in the 4500 block of Woodson Road.  When the officer attempted to arrest the suspect, Watters resisted arrest and sped away, losing control of the vehicle and crossing over the median several times, according to court records.

Watters’ vehicle then hit another police officer’s car. Eventually, a minivan with California license plates was trapped between the two police cars, one sustaining major damage.

Authorities said two ambulances were called to the scene.

Another officer was hit by the suspect’s blue SUV when that officer arrived on the scene.

Both officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Woodson Terrace Police confirmed their injured officers are okay.

The suspect has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident, one count of resisting arrest and three counts of assault.

Watters reportedly admitted that he had been drinking prior to the crash and consented to give a sample of his blood.
