WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A 3-month-old baby died at a baby sitter’s house in Wentzville Wednesday, authorities said.

The baby died at a home in the 300 block of Aspen Creek Drive.

Police said there is no obvious sign of physical abuse but they are investigating what happened inside.

"The baby was found unresponsive in a pack and play type device," said Chief Kurt Frisz.

Neighbors say there was a daycare run out of the home and that there were more than a dozen children inside the home on Wednesday.

"Every morning people dropping off all day long picking them up, kids running around," said neighbor Amber Byrne.

Police say state law requires a daycare license if caring for more than five children.

Now they are investigating how many kids were inside and how many adults to see if there was a violation of state law.

Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

"We take this very seriously, this is very devastating for the parents, devastating for the police officers. This is the second baby that's died in the care of a babysitter this year," said Chief Frisz.
