ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – At least four people were killed and several others were injured during Fourth of July shootings in St. Louis.
Around 11:30 p.m. on the night of the Fourth of July, a man was shot in the 1400 block of Kealty Lane, near Hickory. Police said Brian Mitchell, 29, of the 1200 block of Dillon, was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died. No other information was released.
About 20 minutes later, a man and woman in their 20’s were shot in the 800 block of Wall. Both victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The third shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Temple. Police said a woman was listed in critical, stable condition after being shot in the arm and chest.
Thirty minutes later, one person was killed and another one critically wounded during a shooting at Leonor K. Sullivan and Martin Luther King Drive. The investigation determined the men knew each other and got into an argument. 19-year old Ivory Newbern, of East St. Louis, was killed. Another 19-year-old was shot in the head and is in 'unstable' condition at a St. Louis hospital.
Earlier in the day, homicide detectives were called to the 16th and Cole, near downtown St. Louis after two people were shot while driving in their car. Bobby Slack, 24, of St. Louis, was killed. Another man suffered a minor injury. No arrests were made.
Early Tuesday, 34-year-old Harry Lee Atkins was found fatally shot in the 3500 block of Penrose. No information about his death was made available.
All investigations are ongoing.
