ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A man was killed and two suspects were injured during an overnight shooting near the riverfront in downtown St. Louis.

All while the search for the third suspect continues.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call for a shooting in the 800 block of Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard near the Martin Luther King Bridge. When they arrived, officers found 19-year-old Ivory Newbern of East St. Louis inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other people were inside Newbern’s vehicle. None of them were injured, police said.

According to police, a pair of suspects were later found with gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital, where 18-year-old Tyler Deboise, of East St. Louis, was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released into police custody. The second suspect, a 19-year-old man, remains in critical, unstable condition.

A police investigation revealed the victims and suspects knew one another. Police said the suspects fired gunshots into Newbern’s vehicle following a conversation. While they were firing into the vehicle, a third unknown suspect fired at the 19-year-old suspect, shooting him in the head.

Wednesday afternoon, warrants were issued against Deboise for murder first, unlawful use of a weapon, four counts of armed criminal action and three counts of assault first.

Police have not released a description of the third suspect.

News 4 will update this story as more information becomes available.

The investigation is ongoing.

Editor's note: Hours after the shooting occurred, a police official told News 4 the 19-year-old suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police later said the 19-year-old suspect was still alive but listed in critical, unstable condition at the hospital.
