ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A pair of thieves are starring in a YouTube video after they were caught by a security camera carrying off a scooter from a South St. Louis home.

The theft occurred early Monday morning when two scooters, worth about $2,500 each, were taken from outside a home in Benton Park even though they were locked up.

The theft happened in the early hours, before the sun- and anyone else in the neighborhood- was up. What the thieves didn’t count on was a camera, hidden in a doorbell and triggered by any movement. The theft was recorded and uploaded to the cloud, and is now up on YouTube and Nextdoor.

Since the video has been posted, the owners have heard from other scooter owners who have been victimized in recent weeks.

St. Louis Police have the video and are investigating. Hopefully, it can help bring an end to the thefts.
