ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A man was killed in a shooting on northbound Interstate 55 near Arsenal Saturday evening.

Police say 26-year-old Patrick West was driving on the highway around 9 p.m.  when he was shot and struck a median.

Homicide was requested to the scene where West was pronounced dead.

West's three-year-old and six-year-old sons were found inside the car after the crash with minor injuries from broken glass.

Officials said there were two children in the car at the time of the shooting but were not injured.

Investigators discovered two vehicles fired shots into West's car as it traveled on Interstate 55.

Shots were also fired into a 27-year-old man's car while he was traveling on the highway, according to police.

Police said they believe the two vehicles were targeted. The 27-year-old victim sustained a graze wound to the head and drove to the location of a family member. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Authorities said the victim, 27, was uncooperative with the investigation.

Three other victims including a 54-year-old man, a 27-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman were also traveling along Interstate 55 when their cars sustained ballistic damage. Police confirmed these victims did not sustain any injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.
