SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Two cousins were killed in a fiery crash in the parking lot of a South County apartment complex.

Police responded to the call for an accident before 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Upon their arrival, officers found one vehicle, a BMW sedan, and a tree fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was found in the 6900 block of Colonial Woods Drive.

After the fire was extinguished by the Mehlville Fire Department, two men were found inside the car; a driver and a passenger. Bekir Ismailov, 28, and Mamed Ismailov, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon initial investigation, police said the sedan was travelling southbound on Colonial Woods Drive before the accident. The vehicle then drove through the parking lot of an apartment complex and struck the tree. Police said they believe the high speeds of the vehicle were a direct contributing factor to the accident.

Accident Reconstruction is investigating the incident.
