ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A jaded ex-boyfriend, consumed by jealousy, stalked and killed his ex’s new boyfriend Wednesday according to police.
St. Louis County police have 37-year-old a Christopher Cross in custody, charged with the murder of a man outside a Florissant condominium building.
Authorities say Cross followed the victim, 45-year-old Ronald Morris, from his place of work and gunned him down in Morris’ sister’s driveway.
"He really was a good person. He cared about people. He cared about everybody," said Cheryl Morris, Ronald’s sister.
St. Louis County police say Morris was leaving the Goodwill store in Florissant, where he and his girlfriend both work, Wednesday evening when Cross began following him.
Driven by jealousy over the new relationship, Cross tailed Morris all the way to his sister's Spring Creek condo off Lindbergh and Halls Ferry.
As Morris tried going inside, Cross unloaded.
“He was totally, totally innocent,” Cheryl Morris said. “This was undeserved and it shouldn't have happened."
Morris was transported to the hospital but later died of his injuries.
Cross is held without bail at the St. Louis County Justice Center.
