ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two suspects are in custody following a high-speed police chase of a stolen vehicle.

Some time before 10:00 a.m., a police officer was patrolling the area when he saw a vehicle pass him without a front license plate. The officer ran the back plate, and found it was a stolen vehicle from Country Club Hills.

When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, but the vehicle fled, police say.

The pursuit of the stolen vehicle took the officer from eastbound Interstate 70, into St. Louis city limits. Speeds of the pursuit ranged between 70 and 90 MPH, police said.

Police said the vehicle got back on I-70, only to return to the city, before ultimately making it's way to West Florissant and Riverview.

The two suspects, both female, were eventually taken into custody. Police said they found narcotics inside the vehicle the suspects were driving.

The investigation is ongoing.
