ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Almost a dozen new recordings from the late Chuck Berry will be featured in a new album set to release this summer. The announcement of the album comes less than a week after the artist's death.

News 4 reported Berry passed away in his St. Charles home on March 18.

Shore Fire Media announced the release of the late-musician's album, titled "Chuck", on Wednesday. It will be released on June 16. A sample track, entitled "Big Boys", has already been released and can be listened to here.

The album will be Berry's first since his 1979 release, "Rock It."

While the album is set to release in 2017, it's conception has been a long time coming. According to Shore Fire Media, some of the album's tracks were created and worked on by Berry dating back to the 1980's. Berry would work on the tracks in his home studio between tours. When his health saw a decline in 2015, Berry still oversaw the album's production.

Blueberry Hill owner Joe Edwards, who is a close friend of Berry's, continued Berry's work on the album with Berry's family.

"Chuck" will feature ten new recordings, eight of which were written by Berry himself, Shore Fire Media said in a press release. "Chuck" was recorded and produced by Berry in different studios around the St. Louis area. It will also feature the musical support of his hometown group, which consists of Charles Berry Jr., Ingrid Berry, and Jimmy Marsala, Robert Lohr, and Keith Robinson.

Guest appearances will be made by Gary Clark Jr., Tom Morello, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Charles Berry III, who is Berry's grandson.
