Multiple closures begin tonight near I-44/I-55 interchange, MODOT says

Thanks to the weather, St. Louis drivers will need to adjust their evening travel plans if they intend on coming into the city this weekend.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) changed their plans for the upcoming roadwork. The plans were changed to avoid the upcoming weather, MODOT said  in a press release.

The westbound ramp of the Poplar Street Bridge will close all the way to westbound Interstate 44 (1-44)/southbound I-55. This section will be closed Friday night at 8:00 p.m. The westbound ramp of the Poplar Street Bridge to Walnut will also be closed.

The detour, MODOT said, will divert drivers to eastbound I-44 to Washington Avenue. From there, drivers will make a U-turn under the interstate and get on westbound I-44/southbound I-55.

A few hours later, more closures will be enacted starting at 11:00 p.m.

All but one lane of the westbound I-44 lanes between Broadway and Park will close. The southbound ramp from Memorial to westbound I-44/southbound I-55.

The final closure will be the westbound ramp of I-44/southbound I-55 to 7th Street. The detour of the closure will take drivers to the 12th Street/Gravois exit.

MODOT said these closures will reopen lanes late Saturday evening.

However, there will only be one lane open on the westbound ramp of the Poplar Street Bridge to westbound I-44/southbound I-55.

Three 10-foot lanes on westbound I-44/southbound I-55 between the Polar and the interchange will also be open to drivers.

The lanes will remain that way until the completion of the bridge work, which MODOT said is expected in July.
