ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A plane heading to Cancun, Mexico from Frankfurt, Germany was forced to make an emergency landing in St. Louis Wednesday afternoon.

The Boeing 767-330 aircraft operated by Condor Airlines reported a fuel issue on board and was diverted to St. Louis around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The nearly 200 passengers and crew aboard the flight will spend the night at a hotel. Authorities initially said they would have to stay in a secure area of Lambert Airport because they do not have the proper paperwork to gain entry into the United States.

Airport officials said a new plane will arrive Thursday.
