WEST ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

The retail industry can be tough.

In West St. Louis County one mall is thriving, another is in foreclosure.

In December, News 4 reported national retailers like Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn were not renewing their leases at Chesterfield Mall.

A flood inside Dillards forced the store to close in 2016.

According to Chesterfield's Assistant City Administrator, the retailer obtained a permit to fix the damage, but so far there is no visible progress or evidence the store will re-open.

West County Center is located 10 miles from Chesterfield Mall, and is adding stores.

According to a news release, West County Center will add Vans, Akira, Cell Doc, Imagine That, and Goss'up Pasta in 2017.

The mall is also updating its kiosks and mall carts. They gave away 30 mall kiosks as a result, but sold out quickly.
