ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A woman waiting for the bus had her finger cut after pushing away a knife that was held against her throat by a masked man Sunday.

The cutting occurred at a bus stop in the 8900 block of Halls Ferry Road on March 5. Around noon, the 40 year-old victim was approached by the masked suspect, who pushed a knife against her throat. When the victim tried to push the knife away, a struggle ensued.

Police said the victim's finger was cut, and the suspect fled the scene on foot with the victim's property. A witness nearby went after the suspect, and some of the victim's property was retrieved.

Police said the suspect was a man between the ages of 17 and 20. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, in addition to the black mask. Police describe him as standing 5-feet tall and weighing between 80 and 100 pounds.

The investigation is ongoing.
