Elizabeth Snyder back from trip to Washington D.C.

ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOV.com) – Elizabeth Snyder, widow of fallen St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder, is back from a trip to Washington D.C.

Snyder and her brother, St. Louis County police officer Justin Sparks, met with Vice President Mike Pence and were invited to watch President Trump’s address to Congress.

“It was a great honor to be asked to go out there and it brings a smile to my face, it really [was] a once in a lifetime experience, really what we got to do,” Snyder said.

President Trump has proposed an increase in spending on local law enforcement and spent a good portion of his speech touching on the issue.

“We get up every day we do this job for you and [the] public, we love those we serve and knowing we have the support of those in our government and those who we serve it makes us motivated to do the job, it’s a difficult job to what we have to do,” Sparks said.

Snyder said meeting Vice President Pence was an overwhelming experience for her.

“He was very sincere, very genuine and he was just like this nice guy,” she said. “He really felt for us.”

Although Snyder experienced the trip with her brother, she said her husband is always with her and she will never stop keeping his legacy alive.

“We are going to work on just focusing on healing the community and police department and law enforcement ties together, make it stronger get some activities out there that will help us,” Snyder said.
