FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A woman whose home was saved by firefighters is now thanking them back by gifting them new equipment.

A fire broke out in the garage at Tabitha Taylor’s Florissant home in the middle of the night. She activated her home’s ADT security system, which alerted the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters contained the flames, keeping Tabitha and her children safe.

Taylor, ADT and State Farm thanked first responders by donating money to help buy new firefighting tools for the fire district’s ambulances.

“Our firefighters and paramedics are cross trained, so the paramedics on the ambulance are just as capable functioning as firefighters,” said Mark Lauter, Deputy Chief of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District.

State Farm and ADT contributed a combined $10,000 to the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District.
