ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A woman remains in critical condition after she and five others were injured during a drunk driving crash in St. Charles County.

Police have charged Keith Wigger, 27, with two counts felony assault. Investigators say Wigger was swerving into oncoming traffic when police tried to pull him over. He sped off and crashed into the back of a BMW on Bryan Road. He then crossed over the center lane smashing into a mini-van head on.

Inside the mini-van was Michelle Staed, her 10-year-old son Logan and two others. They had to be cut out of the car by firefighters. Staed was injured the worst, she is in critical condition.

“You look at the cars and you can’t believe that anyone walked away,” said Christine Schill, a family friend and neighbor of Michelle Staed’s.

On Monday, Staed underwent the first of what will likely be many surgeries. That’s why Schill set up a GoFundMe page to help with the medical costs and the costs of spending days at the hospital for the family.

“Everybody wants to help, they’re sad, they can’t believe it,” said Schill.

The others injured in the crash suffered moderate to minor injuries.

Wigger is being held on $50,000 bond.
