A north St. Louis homeowner said demolition work on a house condemned by the city next door is now putting his home in danger.

Andrew Johnson said piles of bricks from the destroyed home are now stacked up as high as five feet against his house on Minerva Avenue.

"I can't get in my yard," Johnson said looking at the bricks covering the walkway on the side of his house.

Johnson said work crews started tearing the house next door apart back in October, and then suddenly stopped and left about six weeks ago, leaving a huge mess behind.

The city's building commissioner said there was a permit for collecting rubble at the torn down house but a demolition permit was only applied for this month.  A notice condemning the property is dated January 5.

He said the Building Division will work with Johnson next door on finding a solution.
