St. Louis Alderman and mayoral candidate Antonio French was served with a lawsuit as he walked into a candidates' forum Wednesday night at Sheldon Concert Hall.

"It's a little bit of political grandstanding and like I said, in the Business Journal article, I'm not a party to this at all so the first thing I'm moving is to remove myself from this, there's no reason I should be on this at all." French told News 4.

The suit is one of at least two from contractors who are suing for unpaid bills at French's North Campus Partnership.

French says he'll move to have his name removed from the suit.

As for the race for mayor among Democrats, Alderwoman Lyda Krewson is regarded as a front runner in some polls.

"We're feeling good, doubling down on work though" says Krewson.

Other candidates said they feel confident.

"I don't believe those polls," says Aldermen Jeffrey Boyd.

"Anxious, ready for election day," says Treasurer Tishaura Jones.

"I feel really good, we have a lot of momentum going into the last two weeks," French said.

"I'm looking forward to a real active GOT (Get Out The Vote) weekend," Aldermanic President Lewis Reed told News 4.

The Democratic primary is March 7.
