ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police are investigating after a woman says two men showed up to her home ready to replace her roof, but she never called for them.

Peggy Manternach filed a report with St. Peters Police Department that states she would have paid thousands of dollars for a roof she didn’t need.

Manternach’s roof is about five years old with a 25-year warranty and no leaks.

Last October, a representative from “American Dream Home Improvement” offered to inspect her roof.

The representative said she did need a new roof, but Manternach wasn’t buying it.

She got a second opinion from another roofer who told her the roof was perfectly fine.

When the company called back, she said, “I think you guys are scamming people and should be ashamed of yourself. Don’t call me and hang up the phone.”

News 4 contacted “American Dream Home Improvement” but has no luck reaching anyone.

The Better Business Bureau in St. Louis warns people to do their homework before paying companies to work on their home.
