OVERLAND (KMOV.com) -

The father of a 9-month-old is in custody after the baby abducted and later found safe Sunday.

The Overland Police Department issued an Amber Alert around 11:30 a.m. after the baby’s non-custodial father, 40-year-old Brian Keith Pullen, allegedly took him from a home in the 2200 block of Woodson Road.

According to police, the baby’s mother was at a friend’s house when Pullen reportedly came into the home and demanded to be given his son. When the mother refused, the suspect allegedly went to his car and came back with a rifle, which Meighan Vanamburgh said he placed to her face before grabbing the baby and taking off.

"I said no you're not Brian, you're not in the state of mind to do it," said Vanamburgh. “I hurried up and got inside, bolted the dead bolt, he bust through that, busted through the screen door, put a  rifle in my face, pushed me out of the way, got to the baby and picked him up by his throat and took him out.”

An Amber Alert was then issued for the child.

Pullen eventually brought the child to a neutral party who then called police. Overland Detectives received the child at the Walmart near Highway 55 and Telegraph Rd.

"They're not telling us much right now, but he is OK, he's alive, which is what we're thankful for," Vanamburgh said.

Pullen was taken into custody by the Cahokia, Illinois Police Department without incident around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

According to court documents, Pullen is a convicted felon and a registered sex offender.

Monday afternoon, officials announced an at-large warrant had been issued for Pullen for first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.

Police previously said they were asking for help locating another man they believe to be connected to the abduction, William Bowen. Authorities have not charged Bowen, but are currently working to find out if he played any role in the abduction.
