ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A family seeking justice and closure is speaking out for the first time to News 4.

Jade Hamilton, 16, was sitting in a car at Mount Pleasant Park when three young men started shooting. She was shot in the neck and died at the hospital.

"She was really sweet. She loved to dance. She was very funny, very smart," says Paige Hamilton, Jade's sister.

Hamilton says there is not a day that goes by that she does not think of her little sister.

"It is even hard to just remember her voice at this time. I just have small memories," she says.

One of those memories includes the day Jade lost her life, February 20, 2011.

"She was at a friends house for the weekend, so we weren't there. Specifically, as far as we know, to this day we really don't know what happened," says Hamilton.

Six years later, Jade's case is still an open investigation. Police say no one has been arrested. While the hours have turned into days, and days into years, it continues to take a toll on the family.

"We have one nephew, he used to wait on the steps for her after she came home from school, like at the same time. I would be like 'what are you doing?' and even after she died, he still waited at the steps for her," she says.

The Hamiltons continue to pray for not just closure for them, but justice for Jade.

"We are hurt. We wish that you would come forward because something like this is very tragic and if it were to their family, I know they would want someone to come forward as well," says Hamilton.

On Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Marquette Park, the family will hold a balloon release and vigil in her honor. If you have any information on Jade's case, contact police.
