ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis man is in custody and charged with child abuse after a grandfather noticed his grandchild had visible welts on them in January.

The grandfather of the children, ages 3 and 4, called police after noticing multiple visible welts on their bodies on Jan. 28.

The children reportedly said “Mikey,” their mother’s boyfriend, “whopped” them and “made (them) bleed,” according to court documents.

Police said the children had multiple scars consistent of a beating using a cord-like object or belt.

Michael Green, 31, was later arrested and charged with two counts of child abuse or neglect of a child. He was reportedly in a relationship with the mother of the victims for about six months. He is currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
